(Yicai Global) Dec. 7 -- Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s (NYSE:BABA) mobile payment arm Alipay landed on the Arctic Circle yesterday, providing full access to Alipay services in Santa Claus Village at the Arctic Circle in Finland.
This is the second offline application scenario that Alipay has developed in Finland, following the application in Helsinki Airport, the China News Service reported.
This year, Alipay has enhanced its presence in the European market. By the end of November, Alipay expanded to seven countries, namely the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Austria and the Czech Republic, being accepted as an online payment method in department stores, airports, restaurants and some applications.
At present, Alipay mobile payment services abroad have access to 100,000 offline stores, covering 60 percent of China's outbound population, said Fei Gen, President of International Business Division of Ant Financial Services Group, an affiliate of Alibaba Group.
