(Yicai Global) Dec. 12 -- The US Commerce Department has made a final determination that Chinese manufacturers are dumping large residential-use washing machines on the US market, state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
The department said on Dec. 9 that Chinese companies were dumping large washing machines at between 32.12 percent and 52.51 percent below their fair value, Xinhua said. The department will notify customs to collect deposits from the firms and the exporters based on the final dumping margins.
In January, the department launched an anti-dumping investigation into washing machines imported from China in response to a petition by Michigan-based Whirlpool Corp.
Under US trade remedy procedures, a final decision to levy anti-dumping tariffs is still subject to the ruling of another federal agency, the United States International Trade Commission. According to the latest schedule, the commission will make its final determination on or about Jan. 23 next year.
