(Yicai Global) May 12 -- Some 29 heads of state and government as well as three leaders of major international organizations, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, will attend a roundtable and other activities at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing this weekend, Geng Shuang, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press conference yesterday.
Around 1,500 guests from more than 130 countries will attend the gathering as official representatives, and over 4,000 journalists from around the world have registered to cover the event, Geng said.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony on the morning of May 14, preside over the roundtable on May 15 and introduce the major outcomes of the forum at a subsequent press briefing, Geng said.
China and other roundtable participants will issue a joint communique, which will reflect their consensus on building the Belt and Road. During the forum, attendees will strategize together and sign cooperation agreements.
