(Yicai Global) May 12 -- Nearly one month after China’s government announced the establishment of Xiongan New Area to help ease the non-capital functions of Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities, Peking University, said it will set up a medical center in the area.
It will be a world-class medical center offering programs for all medical disciplines, encompassing academic research, talent cultivation and medical services. Peking University will also work with other well-known colleges to provide quality education resources to Xiongan New Area and supply talents to help build the new area, the official Hebei Daily newspaper reported.
In collaboration with relevant government institutions, Peking University will build a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project management center to serve the construction of Xiongan New Area. The university’s Guanghua school of management will set up a training center for senior managers.
In early April, the Chinese government decided to set up Xiongan New Area in Hebei province, some 100 kilometers south of Beijing, to help ease the non-capital functions of Beijing, adjust and optimize the urban layout and spatial structure of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, and cultivate innovation to become the new engine of development. The new area’s medical and educational infrastructure needs further investment.
