Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail Will Trial April 1 Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed Rail Will Trial April 1

(Yicai Global) March 29 -- The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-Speed railway's Hong Kong section will start trial runs on April 1, with travel from Shenzhen to Hong Kong taking a mere 14 minutes at a fare of CNY64 (USD10).

Shenzhen has already completed its supporting plan ahead of schedule and will adjust and optimize public transport connection services in Shenzhen North and the city's southern Futian Station to facilitate exchanges between Shenzhen and Hong Kong residents, the Shenzhen city government said. The line is expected to come into official operation in the third quarter.

The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link -- a part of the planned Beijing-Hong Kong High-Speed Railway, has a length of 142 kilometers -- 116 kilometers in the mainland and 26 kilometers in Hong Kong.

The opening of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail, Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen-Hong Kong will reduce the commute between Guangzhou and Hong Kong to one hour; 23 minutes will be the time from Shenzhen North to Hong Kong at a cost CNY72; it will take 33 minutes from Dongguan to Hong Kong at a fare of CNY168; and riding from Guangzhou South to Hong Kong will take 48 minutes and cost CNY207. Five-minute custom clearance will also greatly enhance efficiency for passengers.
