(Yicai Global) May 14 -- China’s internet behemoth Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. will join hands with China Electronics Technology Cyber Security Co. to build a cloud platform to address the concerns of governments, key national security industries and other users with high security requirements and will officially release it at the end of this year.
China Electronics Technology Cyber Security Co. and Alibaba Cloud Computing Co. inked a cooperation agreement, said a statement from Chengdu Westone Information Industry Inc. controlled by China Electronics Technology.
Both sides will cooperate with top-ranking domestic software and hardware manufacturers in China on the construction of the cloud platform. Westone will undertake the overall research of the security cloud product, participate in the development of it, and be responsible for market operations.
The security cloud platform called “Cyber Security Feitian” will be set up through the upgrading of Alibaba cloud basic computing platform in terms of identity authentication, password algorithm, communication encryption and resource monitoring, said the statement.
The Cyber Security Feitian security cloud platform is developed and will be officially unveiled at the end of this year, the statement added. Both sides will develop the security cloud platform brand and construct a home-grown, autonomous and manageable security cloud eco-chain, it said.
Data protection and information security feature highly on the agenda of many companies and institutions as businesses increasingly operate on cyber space. China’s internet heavyweights such as Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Alibaba increasingly offer data storage and software services on the cloud to corporate and government clients as more businesses opt for buying services rather than equipment.
