(Yicai Global) July 13 -- Chinese tech giant is showcasing its latest advances in the retail-oriented AI sector at a new concept clothing shop in Hong Kong.
The Hangzhou-based firm opened the FashionAI concept store on the campus of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The shop employs AI and and algorithmic data analysis to provide outfit suggestions.
Alibaba Group Vice President Zhang Zhuoran called the opening a major step for retail as it allows consumers to have their own personal stylists."
The store uses smart mirrors to automatically suggest matching clothes suggestions when a customer picks up a garment. After the customer selects the size and other details on the screen, all dressing information will be synchronized with the backroom warehouse where the sales staff can quickly prepare all items for a fitting.
The store will stay open for the duration of an AI conference being held at the university.
