Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Invites US Firms to Take Part in Its Projects

(Yicai Global) April 25 -- The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) should be a platform of cooperation between China and the US, not discord, said Jin Liqun, president of AIIB. The AIIB welcomes US private sector companies to participate in the multilateral development bank's project tenders.

The AIIB president was speaking at an Atlantic Council seminar in Washington yesterday, China News Service reported. "China invites the US to walk into the kitchen to make the cake bigger," Jin said, using an analogy.

The AIIB has been in contact with US officials, think tanks, financial institutions, corporations, law firms and consulting firms since its initial preparation stage, said Jin Liqun, stressing the Bank puts great emphasis on working with US businesses as it looks to find ways to achieve win-win outcomes

Unlike other multilateral development banks, the AIIB is not limited to citizens and companies of its existing members when it recruits employees or invites bidders, Jin reminded. The AIIB has about 70 employees, including several US citizens, he said. It welcomes US technology firms to participate in the bidding for AIIB projects.

The US and japan are the only major countries that are not yet members of the AIIB.
