Belarus Is Fixing to Flourish at China's Import Expo

(Yicai Global) July 30 -- Belarus was one of the first countries to sign up for the inaugural China International Import Expo held in Shanghai in November. The country is actively gearing up to take part in the fair, where it hopes to further expand bilateral economic and trade cooperation, state news agency Xinhua reported.

Belarus' foreign affairs ministry and the Chinese Embassy in Belarus recently jointly staged a joint presentation to introduce the former's plan to participate in the expo. Some exhibitors also sought opinions and suggestions from local Chinese-funded enterprises, and Chinese students and representatives in a bid to get more out of participation.

The CIIE will help educate Chinese consumers about quality Belarusian products. The country is eager to tap the further potential of bilateral economic and trade cooperation, Andrei Dapkiunas, Belarus' deputy foreign affairs minister, said at the meeting.

Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov personally oversaw preparatory work. He has convened three ministerial meetings to discuss the fair and hopes to better promote the country's quality products to Chinese consumers.

Minister of Economy Vladimir Zinovsky led Preparations for the participation in the fair coordinated by the organizing committee. Belarusian food is safe and reliable, and the eastern European country already sends its beef products to China, Zinovsky said, adding his hope that his nation's exhibitors sign more export contracts with Chinese counterparts at the expo.

Belarus' National Pavilion will showcase the achievements and prospects of the two countries' economic, trade, investment and cultural cooperation at the fair, said Kobyakov, who believes Belarusian agricultural and wood processing products and technology and electrical equipment will become new engines for bilateral trade growth.

China is the country's most important importer of agricultural produce. Belarusian agricultural machinery and dump trucks also enjoy favorable prospects in China, he added.

The country will also promote vacation resources through this year's Belarus-China Tourism Year, Kobyakov said, noting that his country is suitable for leisure travel and is moreover an important country along the Belt and Road route.
