(Yicai Global) April 10 -- China’s turbofan-powered regional jet ARJ21-700 AC104 returned to Xi'an Yanliang Airport in the northern Shaanxi province marking the success of the ARJ 21-700’s crosswind flight test in Europe, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
The trial test held in Iceland fills the gap of Chinese transport aircrafts with speed of over 30 knots (55 kph) in crosswind flight test and is of great significance to the continuous improvement of Chinese civil aircraft test flight capabilities. It also provides valuable experience for the follow-up civil aircraft models to carry out international flight tests.
The success of the Icelandic crosswind test flight marks the ARJ21-700 aircraft's safe operation capabilities under all weather conditions required by the airworthiness regulations and marks a milestone in improving the operation environment of aircrafts and the operational efficiency of aircraft market, the report added.
The ARJ21-700, made by state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd., was the first regional commercial jetliner designed for use in China’s central and western regions. The ARJ21-700 adopts a full economy-class design and provides 90 seats. Chengdu Airlines, its first buyer last year, operates four ARJ21-700 jetliners on several routes, including one between Chengdu, capital of the southwestern Sichuan province, and Shanghai. The aircraft has since been adopted by 21 airlines and accrued orders tallying 453 units.
