(Yicai Global) Nov. 23 -- China’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) transformation will start next year and intelligent transport will usher in the golden age of innovation and development, state-owned Xinhua news agency quoted Xu Nanping, Chinese vice minister of science and technology, as saying at an annual intelligent transportation meeting.
Changshu in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu is hosting the meeting, which began yesterday and will end tomorrow.
Smartification is an important part of modern transportation development, Xu said. With the application and popularization of big data, artificial intelligence, mobile internet and a new generation of information technology, the direction of transportation development is undergoing profound changes, said Xu.
“China’s intelligent transportation technology research and development and applications cover key laboratories of national engineering research centers and strategic and intelligent transportation systems, and have cultivated a large number of talents with international perspectives and competitiveness,” Xu said.
The intelligent transport upgrade scheme will focus on smart services and will strive to provide travelers with fast, comfortable, convenient and safe transport, the vice minister said.
“With these major arrangements and initiatives, we have reason to believe that intelligent transportation will usher in the golden age of innovation and development.” The industry shows promise of advancing, he said.
