(Yicai Global) April 11 -- China’s Zhengzhou Yutong Bus Co. provided 59 new electric buses to Germany’s European long-distance passenger service provider FlixBus to operate on its newly-opened all-electric long-distance bus route from French capital city of Paris to Amiens in northern France.
The Munich-based FlixBus introduced the new line in Paris yesterday, reported state-run Xinhua News Agency. It runs a total of 150 kilometers, with over two hours of journey time on average. It will begin trial operations with new buses tomorrow, it said.
Yutong’s electric buses are capable of running 200 kilometers on full power and needs charging only for four hours, said a FlixBus driver. The driving and riding experience is very satisfactory, smooth and comfortable without any noise, and the buses are environmentally friendly, the driver added.
German startup FlixBus also plans to buy pure electric buses produced by another Chinese automaker, BYD Co., on another long-distance passenger line in Germany this summer, it said. FlixBus will decide whether to further expand the operating range of Chinese buses after assessing their operational capacity on its new routes.
Established in 1993, Yutong Bus became the first passenger bus manufacturer listed in the Chinese mainland in 1997. It ranks first in terms of market share of domestic passenger car market and actively explores the European and the US markets.
