(Yicai Global) March 29 -- China's first domestic-made heavy-lift helicopter for civilian purposes, the AC313, has successfully completed all airworthiness tests, state-run Xinhua news Agency reported, citing sources with the aircraft's developer.
The most recent test flight, in heavy rain, was in Jingdezhen, a city in east China's Jiangxi Province, on March 24, said Changhe Aircraft Industry (Group) Co., a subsidiary of the Aviation Industry Corp. of China, which made the chopper.
The test results show that the AC313 model can fly safely in heavy rain. All of its devices and systems worked normally and the pilot had a clear view in the cab, meaning the helicopter has met the airworthiness regulations. The models' overall properties meet the international standards for third-generation helicopters.
The AC313 made its maiden flight in March 2010 and completed two trial flights on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in 2010 and 2011. It is suitable for emergency rescue operations, forest fire response, transportation, offshore operations, medical aid, sightseeing and business trips.
