China Is Ready to Handle Various Possible Outcomes of Trade Frictions, MOFCOM Says China Is Ready to Handle Various Possible Outcomes of Trade Frictions, MOFCOM Says

(Yicai Global) May 17 -- China hopes that it and the US will properly resolve conflicts through negotiation based on the principles of mutual respect and equal consultation and control differences to achieve positive and constructive results and jointly promote the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. China does not want to see the economic and trade frictions between the two nations escalate but is also ready to deal with all possible outcomes, Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng said yesterday at a press conference on the visit of Chinese delegation to the US.

He made these remarks when responding to questions as to whether the economic and trade frictions between the world's two largest economies will intensify if the current round of consultations between them produces no final consensus.

President Xi Jinping noted at this year's Boao Forum for Asia that China will further expand its opening and put forward four major initiatives to this end, Gao added.

Relevant departments are expediting their follow up of the implementation of these principles. China will actively and steadily continue to expand market opening in an orderly manner based on its own development needs and in accordance with its own rhythm and timetable to let its people those of all nations enjoy the dividends accruing from this ongoing reform and opening.
