(Yicai Global) Jan. 3 – In line with the rapid development of facial recognition technologies, China Merchants Bank (CMB) has introduced 'face-scanning withdrawal' services in its ATMs.
CMB has launched the face-scanning ATM withdrawal service in nearly 1,000 ATMs across 106 Chinese cities. The facial recognition system will get a snapshot of accountholder's face after he/she clicks on the "face-scanning withdrawal" option. It then checks it against person's photos in bank's own or public security system records. The accountholder will be entitled to take out the requested cash only after being verified, but will still have to input his or her mobile phone number for further verification and then enter the withdrawal password.
The 'face-scanning withdrawal' system will calculate and analyze the accountholder's facial features, shape and angle. The system can prevent fraud by photos, mobile photos, videos and masks, the CMB said. The 'face-scanning withdrawal' technology regards human faces as natural interaction identifier for verification, so users will not need to insert their bank cards into ATMs.
