China Mobile, Suning to Jointly Develop 4K Sports Streaming

(Yicai Global) July 12 -- Private holdings firm Suning Group has formed a partnership with China's largest telecoms provider to work together on a streaming platform for sports events.

The Nanjing-based corporation will work with China Mobile's Migu Video platform to develop 4K ultra-high definition for sports content for copyrights owned by its PP Sports unit, online news outlet TechWeb reported.

Migu Video can provide users with more high-definition and stable network services, said Mi Xin, vice-president at Suning Sports, adding that the parties will also jointly work on 5G by formulating industry standards.

The two firms will also cooperate in the fields of sports event program production, and advertising.

As one of China's earliest sports streamer, PP Sports holds copyrights for soccer competitions including Chinese Super League, UK Premier League, Spanish La Liga and German Bundesliga. Migu Video announced in May that it had obtained a copyright from state-run CCTV to broadcast the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
