(Yicai Global) Sept. 8 -- China Nuclear E&C Group, manufacturer of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, is moving towards generating fourth-generation nuclear power technology through its co-operation with China First Heavy Industries, producer of nuclear forgings and nuclear reactor pressure vessels, according to CNEC Chairman Wang Shoujun.
CNEC will work with CFHI on the construction of equipment for high-temperature reactors, promote industry standards for such equipment and support exports, Mr. Wang said. Significant progress had also been made in commercial high temperature reactor technology, he said.
The two companies agreed last month to develop and construct a high temperature gas-cooled reactor project, representing fourth generation nuclear technology.
The large size and heavy weight of equipment of high temperature reactors means that standardization is critical for its mass production.
China National Nuclear Corp., China General Nuclear Power Group and State Power Investment Corp., are the only three enterprises qualified for nuclear power plant operation in China.
CNEC is expected to be the fourth company licensed for nuclear power plant operation in domestic and overseas markets with its high temperature gas cooled reactors, a nuclear industry insider told Yicai Global.
