(Yicai Global) June 7 -- State-owned China Railway 11th Bureau Group has started building foundations for the largest coal-fired power plant invested and built by a Chinese company in Vietnam. The project will help ease the local tight power supply.
The plant is located in Duyen Hai, Vietnam's southern province of Tra Vinh, with a planned capacity of 2×660 megawatts, said a spokesperson from the Wuhan-based infrastructure firm, adding that the 11th Bureau will create all the pile foundations, worth CNY170 million (USD26.56 million).
The project goes under the name of China's Belt and Road initiative and is also part of China Railway Construction Corp.'s and China Railway 11 Bureau Group’s “going global” strategy, the spokesperson added.
President Xi Jinping introduced the Belt and Road Initiative, a massive investment plan of road, railway, and pipeline in 2013 to promote integration along the lines of the former Silk Road.
