The symptoms of African Swine Fever are similar to those of other highly-contagious pig ailments, so it is difficult for farmers to conclude their hogs have the disease based on nothing but visual inspection. Lab detection is the most accurate approach to diagnosis and there is no cure or prevention available. Farmers must slay the infected hogs and ensure they are properly buried or cremated to stop the disease from spreading.
