China's Shengshi Is Fined for Selling Unlabeled GMO Edible Oil

(Yicai Global) May 28 -- Shengshi Jiahe Agricultural Development has been fined for selling edible oil that was not labeled as generically modified. 

Authorities in Baihe county, Shaanxi province, handed Jiahe Agricultural a CNY23,000 (USD3,330) penalty and confiscated total sales worth CNY8,844, The Paper reported today. 

The company, whose headquarters are in Shaanxi, sold nearly 520 kilograms of genetically modified rapeseed oil to a coal miners' canteen in Guizhou province in February.
