(Yicai Global) Sept. 18 -- Chinese residents planning to travel at home or overseas during the upcoming National Day holiday, which runs from Oct. 1 through Oct. 7, will have to pay as much as 35 percent more than usual, according to a report published yesterday.

Long-distance domestic tourism packages will be 35 percent more expensive during the week-long break, the China Association of Travel Services and online travel agency Tuniu said in the report. Short-stay trips overseas will cost about 30 percent more and international trips of a longer duration will be about 10 percent pricier.

More than half of all tourists -- 57 percent -- have booked to travel overseas, per the report. Some 31 percent are making long-distance trips within China and 12 percent have planned short-stay getaways.
