China Will Build Up the China-Malaysia Belt and Road to Gain More Solid Fruits, Xi Said

(YICAI GLOBAL) May 14 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, an attendee at the Belt and Road International Cooperation Summit Forum, Xinhua News Agency reported.

China and Malaysia are not only near neighbors joined by the sea, but also good friends and partners enjoying mutual trust, respect and win-win cooperation, China's President Xi Jinping noted.

China-Malaysia relations now stand at a historical high. China hopes to draft a good blueprint for ongoing development of relations with Malaysia and promote their comprehensive strategic partnership achieve greater fruits, Xi said at the meeting's venue in China's legislative chamber, the Great Hall of the People.

The two countries' leaders have held close communication and firmly grasp the strategic direction of bilateral relations, Xi Jinping stressed, and are actively linking the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Malaysian Economic Transformation Program. The two must continue to reinforce the simultaneous construction and interactive development of the Qinzhou and Kuantan industrial parks, and steadily advance cooperation in industrial parks, railroads and other major projects. China is willing to enhance cooperation with Malaysia in education, culture, personnel exchanges and tourism, and continue to deepen their teamwork in law enforcement, security and anti-terrorism. Malaysia is a key country on the ancient maritime Silk Road, and one of the earliest to respond to the One Belt and One Road initiative. It has thus most richly reaped the early bounty of jointly building the Belt and Road. China is keen to realize more solid results for the two nations in Belt and Road construction.

Malaysia and China are not only neighbors, but also friends, Najib said. He expressed his full agreement with President Xi, and said implementation of the important cooperation consensus reached between the two countries greatly gratifies Malaysia. His country is resolved to continue its efforts to boost Malaysia-China relations to a higher, more expansive plane, with more extensive development, increased collaboration in trade and investment, infrastructure construction, humanities, and anti-terrorism and security. The historic Belt and Road project will induce tremendous changes in the region and the whole world. Malaysia will positively participate in all due cooperation, he pledged.
