(Yicai Global) May 13 -- China will promote pragmatic cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road in the field of transport to provide a strong basis for the comprehensive promotion of the 'One Belt, One Road' Initiative, China's transport minister Li Xiaopeng said.
China and the Belt and Road countries will jointly promote transport planning and standards to ensure that the connectivity will be carried out orderly and effectively to gradually form a regional transport infrastructure network which would be in line with the needs of the countries along the route, Li said in an interview with the People's Daily.
He also said that China will encourage the construction of land transport corridors in economically important regions such as China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, the New Eurasian Land Bridge, China-Central Asia-West Asia economic corridor, China-Indochina peninsula economic corridor, China-Pakistan economic corridor and Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar economic corridor to alleviate people's livelihood and living standards along the Belt and Road.
The construction of ports infrastructure along the Belt and Road will gain momentum, and China and the Belt and Road countries will improve the customs clearance environment of the ports, upgrade the level of facilitation in China-Europe cargo railway and the international road transport. They will also promote the maritime inter-connection in order to enhance functions of domestic coastal ports and facilitate international land and water transport channels, China's transport minister Li added.
