Chinese Stocks End Higher, Driven by Chipmaker Gains

(Yicai Global) May 27 -- Chinese mainland equities closed higher today, as semiconductor manufacturers led the advance, gaining more than 5 percent.

The tech-heavy ChiNext Index climbed 3.3 percent on turnover of CNY82.6 billion (USD12 billion). The Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.4 percent to 2,892.38, with CNY193.8 billion of shares changing hands, while the Shenzhen Component Index finished 2.3 percent higher at 8,979.83 on CNY258.9 billion worth of trades.
