(Yicai Global) Jan. 25 – Chinese smartphones dominated India's smartphone market in the fourth quarter last year, with four Chinese brands ranking among the top five. Out of the top five brands boasting the biggest shipments, four were Chinese, accounting for 46 percent of India's total smartphone market, says a market research report.
Released by the market research institute Counterpoint Research, the report shows that four Chinese brands, Vivo, Oppo, Lenovo and Xiaomi were among the top five claiming the biggest shipments in India's smartphone market.
Smartphone shipments in India, one of the most promising smartphone markets in the world, grew 18 percent in 2016, while the figure was merely 3 percent in the global market.
In the last quarter of 2016, Apple shipments ranked 10th in India's smartphone market, but claimed 62 percent share in the high-end market, where phones are priced above USD450.
