(Yicai Global) Aug. 7 -- Tianjin, a major port city in China’s northeast, has reportedly inked a deal with Pinduoduo to encourage top-quality local firms to do business on the leading e-commerce platform.
The northeastern city will have it own sales section on Pinduoduo, the first ever with a city as its theme, The Paper reported today. The pair signed a deal yesterday.
Pinduoduo, which has been the fastest-growing Chinese e-commerce platform, will contact places of origin and producers to sell their products without middlemen and give the Nasdaq-listed firm’s 628 billion users access to the best and most authentic Tianjin products.
Shanghai-based Pinduoduo will provide Tianjin businesses with technologies, website traffic and data to expand the online trading of the city’s high-quality consumer goods and increase their market share, the report said, citing company co-founder Fan Jiezhen.
