(Yicai Global) Nov. 30 -- A Chinese construction company has won the bid for the main stadium project of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar. The contract has a total value of QAR2.8 billion (USD754 million).
Once completed, Lusail Stadium -- the construction project China Railway Construction International Group Co. has secured -- will accommodate over 92,000 viewers and form the venue for such key events as the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup, as well as the finals, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Qatar plans to invest a combined USD110 billion in infrastructure to sponsor the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This includes railways, roads, airports and stadiums, Qatar media report.
