(Yicai Global) April 17 -- Chinese animal husbandry firm Luoniushan Co. will set up a comprehensive industrial park dedicated to horse racing in Haikou, the provincial capital of China’s southern island province of Hainan, following the introduction of government policies to support the development of the sport.
Luoniushan, also headquartered in Haikou, has inked an agreement with Guangzhou Horse China One Co. to jointly build Luoniushan International Horse Culture Industrial Park, integrating a race course as well as leisure agriculture and education facilities, the firm said in a statement.
The State Council, China’s cabinet brought in a series of policies on April 15 to encourage the development of beach sports, watersports, horse racing and gambling in an effort to establish the island as a national sports tourism demonstration zone.
China’s horse racing sector is yet to be developed on a large scale and the country is home to only one internationally recognized epidemic-free horse ranch, located in Guangzhou, provincial capital of China’s southern Guangdong province. The cities of Shanghai and Chengdu in Sichuan province, have also set up temporary epidemic-free zones for international horse racing.
Founded in 2016, Guangzhou Horse China One runs a horse-riding club in Guangdong provincial capital Guangzhou, an equestrian town in Guizhou and a horse ranch in the US. It has also set up multiple media platforms devoted to the sport such as Horse China One network and Global Horse Racing TV.
