(Yicai Global) April 8 -- A unit of Chinese retailer Suning Holdings Group has agreed to buy large quantities of Thailand's fresh farm products, including coconuts and mangosteens.

The unit, Suning Fast Moving Consumer Goods Group, inked a deal with Thailand's central Ratchaburi province, the country's most famous coconut-producing region, earlier this month, e-commerce information site Ebrun reported today, citing the agreement.

Nanjing-based Suning set up the unit this year to integrate its online and offline fresh food retail business. It will buy 20 million coconuts and deliver them to customers within 72 hours after they are picked via Suning's 46 nationwide cold chain warehouses.

Suning also penned agreements with Chanthaburi province on April 5 to buy durians and mangosteens. The company, which has 75 million users in China, last year sold 5 million durians, or 10,000 tons worth, public data show.
