(Yicai Global) May 10 -- Chinese scientists have invented a solar power utilization technique that can improve power generation from crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells by 400 to 500 percent without changing lighting, environmental conditions, or the cells.
A team at New Concept Aircraft (Zhuhai) Co. led by Chief Scientist Li Xiaoyang, who made China's first solar-powered aircraft, have created an innovative solar power system that dramatically boosts PV power generation by actively acquiring solar energy, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
Unlike existing passive PV power systems, the new method actively and remotely integrates light energy, multiplies output radioactivity, and thus increases solar energy density without heating up, the report said.
The technology will help PV companies generate profit without relying on government subsidies, Li said. It is a sustainable development solution for the solar power industry, he said.
