Chinese Supreme People's Procuratorate, Partners Set Up Smart Procuratorial Innovation Institute

(Yicai Global) Sept. 21 -- China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) has set up a smart procuratorial innovation institute in partnership with companies and universities in its first research cooperation with businesses and colleges in recent years.

The institute's founding ceremony was today, and its founders include the Renmin University of China, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp. and Iflytek Co. [SHE:002230], a leading voice-recognition technology provider, state-run China National Radio reported.

The institute will work with colleges and high-tech companies to build labs for artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing; establish branches with local prosecutors when conditions are ripe; gauge demand for smart procuratorial apps and develop relevant products, said Zhang Xueqiao, SPP's deputy procurator-general.

The institute will also help attract more high-end talents to participate in the construction of smart procuratorates, make prosecutors more tech savvy and strengthen strategic cooperation between procuratorates and tech firms.
