(Yicai Global) Feb. 12 -- A Chinese government disciplinary watchdog recently axed a high-level manager at state-backed Chinese National Petroleum Corp .
Hu Yongqing, deputy head of the firm's planning department, is under investigation for serious and illegal abuse of office, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China, the nation's top ethics overseer, said on its website.
The statement gave no further details as to the nature of Hu's offense.
Hu joined the Beijing-based company's planning office in 2007 and had occupied his last post since May 2011.
Chinese National Petroleum Corp is one of China's two largest state-owned petrochemical conglomerates and its largest petroleum and natural gas producer.
