(Yicai Global) June 1 -- China is one of Croatia's most important markets, and the Eastern European country's companies are expecting to benefit a lot from the upcoming China International Import Expo, according to a Croatian governmental trade organization.
The two countries have maintained favorable economic relations, said Luka Burilovic, president of Croatian Chamber of Economy, adding that the expo will provide Croatian companies with a great opportunity to present their high-quality products in the Asian country.
Croatia exported goods worth USD125.97 million to China last year, which was less than one percent of its all exports, according to the United Nations Comtrade database, while the trade deficit remained at a more than fivefold of that of China's exports to the European country, reported the World's Richest Countries website.
Croatia will showcase high-quality food and drinks, high-tech electronics, tourism services and some proprietary technologies. In addition, these European companies will offer investment and logistic services to Chinese partners.
The Croatian Chamber of Economy offers vigorous support for Croatian companies who intend to explore Chinese markets, Burilovic said, adding that the country has set up a representative office in Shanghai at the end of last year. Besides on-site help in the representative office, the chamber also offers a string of specialized services for member companies to fuel internationalization of them.
The import expo coincides with the move of Croatian companies to go international and it will serve as a great platform to connect the two countries' companies, Burilovic said, adding that with the concerted efforts of both parties, the trade fair will become a great success.
The CIIE will be held in Shanghai in November.
