(Yicai Global) May 7 -- Huang Hongyuan has been appointed the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s party secretary and chairman, the bourse announced May 4.
Huang’s predecessor Wu Qing was anointed deputy mayor of Shanghai on Jan. 16, leaving the chairmanship of the city’s exchange vacant, with Huang provisionally filling the post during this interval.
Huang, who has served as the exchange's president since 2012, received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a master's degree in international finance from the Graduate School of the People's Bank of China, a master's degree in financial engineering from Imperial College London, and a doctoral degree in finance from Renmin University of China, according to official information.
Huang joined the country’s central bank the People’s Bank of China and served at the CSRC a year later. He has acted as deputy director of the national investment fund regulator, deputy director of CSRC Shanghai branch, and head of several financial oversight departments.
