(Yicai Global) June 29 -- Fiji will take an active part in the first China International Import Expo, which will be held in Shanghai in November.

The country aims to hold high-level talks with trade partners to identify and eliminate trade barriers and explore ways to promote international trade, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya said in a recent interview.

Fiji aims to showcase itself as a tourism and investment destination. Many Fijian enterprises and institutions have signed up for the expo. The country will highlight its natural cosmetics, beer and chilled water products at the event.

Faiyaz pointed out that China is one of Fiji's largest trade partners. The total volume of imports and exports between the two countries has increased to FJD880 million (USD417 million) last year, up from FJD370 million in 2011.

The country's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Fiji, the consulate in Shanghai and the Office of the Trade Representative and embassy are joining forces to prepare for CIIE.
