Fujifilm to Debut Healthcare Products at China International Import Expo

(Yicai Global) Sept. 25 -- Fujifilm Holdings will debut its new line of healthcare products for the Chinese market at the first China International Import Expo, which will take place in November.

Traditionally a photographic film maker, Fujifilm has branched out into six other business since the Tokyo-based firm embarked upon a transformation strategy in 2000. The firm now engages in printing, digital imaging, optical components, highly functional materials, and document processing, as well as healthcare products. Yao Jiafeng, vice-president of the company's Chinese unit recently accepted an exclusive interview with Yicai Global.

Q: What does Fujifilm expect from the first CIIE? What kind of products will be on show for Chinese consumers?

A: We were one of the first companies to sign up for CIIE and we hope to showcase the Fujifilm's brand-new corporate image. Our booth has an area of 300 square meters and is divided into two parts between healthcare and highly functional materials.

Products to be exhibited include cutting-edge products for the early diagnosis of women's breast cancer, which can are used for high-precision early diagnosis of lesions in small doses; and there is also our 3D medical network products that can provide stereoscopic imaging and provide a more accurate reference for doctors to develop surgical treatment plans. We will also display our artificial intelligence product that integrates AI technology with traditional imaging to help X-ray doctors diagnose diseases earlier through database comparison.

We hope to bolster our localization efforts and further develop business cooperation and expansion with local Chinese companies through CIIE. As a witness of China's new round of economic growth, Fujifilm will fully grasp every chance to move forward with the Chinese economy.

Q: Is Fujifilm's business transformation now complete? What are the key features of your business layout in the Chinese market?

A: Fujifilm has completed its transformation. We are very much looking forward to attending this year's import expo and fully display our corporate image and technological achievements after the successful transformation so that more Chinese people can see the brand-new Fujifilm.

Fujifilm is now one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of comprehensive imaging, healthcare, highly functional materials and document processing products and services.

Our healthcare business in China still focuses on imaging technology, but we have achieved comprehensive coverage of prevention, diagnosis and treatment in the sector. This is the first time that Fujifilm will bring its entire line of products to China.

A: Fujifilm began producing X-ray film in 1936, shortly after its establishment. Now our products include digital radiography, women's health, endoscopy, ultrasound, in vitro diagnostics, medical information technology, regenerative medicines, pharmaceuticals, health products, skin care products among others. We apply our core technology to all aspects of the healthcare field, and are committed to providing people with comprehensive health support from prevention and diagnosis to treatment.
