(Yicai Global) Jan. 11 -- Huawei Technologies Co.'s smartphone shipments reached 139 million units last year, up 29 percent from a year earlier, well above IDC's growth forecast for global smartphone shipments, said a statement published on the public WeChat account operated by Huawei Terminal (Dongguang) Co.
The increase in Huawei's smartphone shipments is well above International Data Corporation's (IDC)growth forecast for global smartphone shipments for last year, which suggested only a 0.6 percent rise.
In terms of the market share, Huawei increased its global smartphone market segment to 11.3 percent, according to data released by GfK, one of the world's largest market research firms, last October. Some 50 percent of Huawei's smartphone sales came from overseas. Huawei sold over 10 million P9 and P9 Plus handsets globally, becoming the company's first flagship product to exceed 10 million units in sales.
