(Yicai Global) Nov. 24 -- A senior member of staff at JD.com Inc. [NYSE:JD], China's second largest e-commerce player after Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has been detained by the public security unit in Beijing for allegedly taking bribes.
Fan Long, a manager of the lifestyle and travel business department of JD.Com, was taken away from his office by public security officers suspected of being involved in "bribing non-public servants," a crime that has led to him being placed under criminal detention.
It is alleged Fan once asked for massive backhanders in the form of shares and cash from merchants due to his position, according to company bulletins. Such actions violate the internal anti-corruption regulations of the company. Long has already been fired.
This is the first time JD.com Inc have reported a violation of staff regulations and publicly given the offender's real name.
