(Yicai Global) April 2 -- LinkedIn Corporation, employment social network platform, has appointed Lu Jian as president of LinkedIn China today to oversee the platform’s business and research and development in China. Lu is a founder of Vobile Group Ltd., a well-known video recognition technology developer.
Lu will directly report to Mohak Shroff, senior vice president of LinkedIn. The building of a large social network platform requires technical know-how and business wisdom and Lu has a perfect balance in these two areas, Mohak said.
Before founding Vobile in 2006, Lu had 10 years of experience in technology development at Apple Inc. and products developed by him were applied in multimedia software such as iMovie and iTunes. Lu returned to China in 2010 and joined the online game developer Shanda Games Ltd. He also served in senior executive roles at such internet companies as Beijing Qihu Technology Co., also known as 360, and Hujiang Education Technologies.
Derek Shen, former president of LinkedIn China, resigned last June and joined the premium rental property brand Danke Apartment, which is run by Ziwutong (Beijing) Asset Management Co., to serve as chairman. Before Lu’s joining, Francis Tsang, head of international engineering at LinkedIn, served as LinkedIn China president.
LinkedIn entered the Chinese market in 2014 and the number of its users in the country has surpassed 39 million as of the end of 2017, an eight-fold increase in four years.
