(Yicai Global) Jan. 10 -- The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CCDCP) reported that H7N9 avian influenza cases have burgeoned since the new year's start.
Yesterday's risk assessment sees China entering the peak season for the H7NY bird flu virus. Outbreaks are still popping up, distributed across the country in scattered fashion.
Local authorities are taking active epidemic prevention and control measures. Local governments in provinces where H7N9 cases have arisen are intensifying oversight of frontline prevention and control and reviewing execution of such source control measures as closure or suspension of live poultry markets and disinfection of contaminated sites.
Officials are urging timely diagnosis and treatment -- particularly for those the virus severely afflicts -- to lessen the chances of critical illness or death. Local agencies in provinces as-yet affected by H7N9 are monitoring the epidemic to curb its spread.
