(Yicai Global) March 6 -- Logan, The Wolverine threequel, opened in mainland China and the US on March 3. It became China's top-grossing movie of the week in just three days with box office takings totaling CNY326 million (USD47 million), according to statistics.
Logan is the final film featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The movie was rated R in the US as it contains many explicit and violent scenes. China does not have a movie rating system. The movie was shortened by 14 minutes for the Chinese release, but that didn't dampen enthusiasm.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter came in second place at Chinese box offices, grossing CNY230 million. It was followed by A Dog's Purpose, which took third place with CNY114 million.
Logan grossed USD85.3 million during opening weekend in North America, and the global box office revenue hit USD240 million.
