Logistics Revenue Tops CNY 400 Billion in China for 2016, up Over 40%

(Yicai Global) Nov. 1 -- The Chinese logistics industry developed rapidly amid the explosive growth of the ecommerce market, resulting in a sharp increase in the volume of deliveries and revenues at logistics companies.

Xinhua News Agency reports that, during an industry conference held Nov. 1, Mr. Gao Hongfeng, chairman of China Express Association, disclosed that the total volume of shipments delivered by the logistics industry was expected to exceed 30 billion in 2016, and the total revenue of the industry would reach CNY400 billion, up over 50 and 40 annual percentage points, respectively.

In the next several years, the logistics industry needs to deepen synergistic development through cooperation with ecommerce businesses and create new circulation models for fresh agricultural products by strengthening ties with agricultural ecommerce operators and producers, adds Gao, and efforts should also be made to push into emerging manufacturing markets such as intelligent manufacturing and custom manufacturing.

The Chinese logistics industry has entered a new era characterized by capital investment, following the successful initial public offering (IPO) of ZTO Express [NYSE:ZTO] on the New York Stock Exchange and the China Securities Regulatory Commission's approval of A-share backdoor listing applications by SF Express, YTO Express and STO Express.
