On Oct. 19, 2016, Mobike signed a strategic cooperation with the governments of Shanghai and Baoshan District to introduce their latest Mobike Lite model and the new version of its supportive app. It is hoped the bike-sharing service can solve the problems of heavy bikes, the mismatch between supply and demand and decrease waiting times.

The Mobike Lite has a streamlined frame with tires made of a unique rubber, making it puncture-proof. The bike utilizes solar panel charging technology to ensure the stable and reliable operation of smart locks. In addition, it is also equipped with a bike basket. At seventeen kilograms lighter than the standard sports bike, the Mobike Lite further improves riders' user experience.

The cost of using the Mobike Lite is only CNY0.5 per 30-minute ride. "The reasonable price will encourage more people to choose a Mobike Lite, helping to ease traffic jams" a company spokesman said.

The latest version of the Mobike App can help with GPS positioning, booking and locating the Mobike you have booked through its interface, which like the bike wheels is white and orange. People can book and locate two Mobike models in one digital map at the same time.

Almost 100,000 bikes have been placed in Shanghai and the company plans to work with the city government to collate data on the slow traffic system and facilitate and promote green urban transport solutions, Mobike said.
