(Yicai Global) Jan. 14 -- The local government of North China’s Shijiazhuang has started to build a centralized quarantine site, to which 3,000 sets of prefabricated housing is expected to arrive within three days.

The construction site just outside Shijiazhuang reportedly covers some 33.33 hectares. More than 100 workers and dozens of equipment sets have already reached the scene, Xinhua News Agency reported today.

The city of 11 million about 300 kilometers southwest of Beijing that is the capital of Hebei province recently suffered a severe Covid-19 flareup.

The accommodations to be put together enclose 18 square meters apiece and have an over 90 percent prefabrication rate that allows skilled workers to assemble them in one day, according to a management staffer at their manufacturer.

China had 138 newly confirmed Covid-19 cases yesterday, including 124 domestic cases -- 81 in Hebei and 43 in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang -- with one death in Hebei, the National Health Commission announced today on its website.

The Oklahoma-sized province surrounding Beijing has reported 465 confirmed cases since the outbreak on Jan. 2, 447 of which are in Shijiazhuang. The city’s Gaocheng district, one of two high-risk areas in China, has now imposed a lockdown.
