(Yicai Global) Aug. 23 -- Starting this year, a food company in Dandong in China's northeastern Liaoning province has thus far exported to South Korea 68.1 tons of popsicles in four batches with a value of USD52,000.
The Liaoning branch of China's inspection and quarantine agency outed this information yesterday to show that the several trial exports to South Korea starting last year have now turned into a routine trade.
Because the ingredients are simple, costs and sales prices are both inexpensive, and so popsicles are a favorite domestic summer refreshment for consumers.
The price of these popsicles, which retail in Dandong for USD0.03 (CNY0.5) apiece, immediately rises upon export, with each costing CNY2 abroad.
"Popsicles have a unique taste and feel, and consumers welcome their affordable price. The quality of our firm's popsicles has won the official acknowledgment of importing countries, and this has instilled confidence in us in opening new markets," said the company's export manager.
