SF Is Charged With Mass User Data Leak, With 17 out of 20 Affected SF Clients SF Is Charged With Mass User Data Leak, With 17 out of 20 Affected SF Clients

(Yicai Global) Sept. 3 -- Chinese express delivery giant SF Holding has reportedly leaked over 300 million items of data, which are on sale for 2 bitcoins (about CNY100,000, USD6,830) on the dark web, a source recently told emerging online media Red Star News.

SF has called in police to probe the incident, and their investigation shows the data online is not authentic, the company claimed yesterday.

The incident occurred just as Huazhu Hotels Group was also alleged to have also spilled its customer data.

A Red Star News reporter randomly called a dozen phone numbers from among the 100,000 items of information the source provided and found these and their corresponding names and addresses were all of real persons and that those answering had indeed used SF's courier services.

Shenzhen-based SF claimed that the data offered for sale online do not contain logistics information such as tracking numbers, shipment contents and delivery and receipt dates and come from unexplained sources, adding that claims SF leaked them are therefore dubious.

The police have yet to comment on the incident. The source of the compromised SF user data thus remains unclear, as does whether they are genuine or not.
