(Yicai Global) Oct. 16 -- Shanghai Forever Bicycle Co., a well-established bike brand in China, has entered the bicycle-sharing sector with the debut of a smart sharing service in the city's Pudong New Area which utilizes QR codes and Bluetooth shake features for unlocking, online tech news outlet Kuai Keji reported yesterday.
Users can open the app and turn on the Bluetooth feature then shake their phones when in the vicinity of the bicycles in order to use them. This new Bluetooth-based method not only simplifies the process but also reduces the inconvenience of scanning QR codes at night.
The feature also improves security and convenience, as QR codes are easily damaged or vandalized.
The smart Forever bikes are also fitted with a charging device in their baskets allowing users to charge their mobile phones while riding.
Shanghai Forever Bicycle, founded in 1940, was one of the earliest bicycle manufacturers in China, boasting the biggest state-owned bicycle factory. The firm received investment from Zhonglu Co. [SHA:600818] after the turn of the century.
