(Yicai Global) Sept. 29 -- A smart agricultural pilotless helicopter co-developed by China's military was launched in Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province.
The remote-controlled helicopter is jointly developed by Jiangsu Tianyu Aviation Technology Co Ltd. (Tianyu Aviation) and the 60th Research Institute of China's People's Liberation Army.
It has been reported that the AT-3N helicopter was converted by the PLA's research institute from a military-grade helicopter model. The new craft has been designed for civilian needs such as agricultural plant protection and can adapt to multiple circumstances, environments and terrains. The cooperation with Tianyu Aviation has provided the project with user solutions together with practical, commercial and promotional support.
A total of CNY1 billion has been invested in the pilotless helicopter project, to support research and development, as well as the production and sales of medium-and large-sized helicopters and their components and parts.
China is a big agricultural country, so it is an enormous task to spray pesticide for the control of plant diseases and insects. The remotely-operated unmanned helicopter will greatly improve the safety and efficiency of pesticide spraying.
