(Yicai Global) June 3 -- Suning.Com, China's home appliance retail giant, has added 100 new energy vehicles to its logistics fleet in Beijing on its journey toward a more environmentally friendly delivery model.
Suning.Com will begin using 5,000 logistics NEVs in 100 cities nationwide, including Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi'an, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Shenyang and Haikou, this year in order to gradually replace fuel cell vehicles, Sina Technology website reported. The 100 cars represent 2 percent of the target.
The vehicles are mainly vans that have an average daily mileage of 170 kilometers and thereby each of them will save about 15 liters of gasoline per day. The group of 100 will reduce carbon emissions by 1,500 tons a year.
The Nanjing-headquartered retailer hinted about the plan already at the end of last year. It also aims to set up 5,000 recycling stations for packaging materials to reduce waste.
