(Yicai Global) April 17 -- China’s largest tech firm Tencent Holdings Ltd. has partnered Jilin provincial government and local state-owned carmaker FAW Group Corp. as the northeastern region looks to go digital.
The trio signed an agreement on April 15, local newspaper Jilin Daily reported, citing provincial Communist Party Secretary Bayanqolu. The government will strengthen top-level design, integrate resources and adopt supportive policies to promote further cooperation with the two partners, he added.
Building a digital Jilin is key to the region’s high-quality development and a strategic choice for the region’s revitalization, Bayanqolu said. He believes with Jilin’s smart infrastructure, the province will be able to fully leverage Tencent’s technologies and management capabilities to achieve solid results in terms of digitization.
The partnership with Tencent will be critical to deepening reform and opening up to achieve quality development, Jilin Governor Jing Junhai added. He hopes the Shenzhen-based tech giant will play an active role in breathing new life into Northeast China and further cooperate with FAW.
